Daily Log of Constructing a Tropical Fish Pond

If you know of anyone around your area who has a pond, I'm sure they would be willing to split them as they grow extremely fast. My uncle lives in Cali, and throws lilys away every year. I'm in illinios so mine don't grow all year long, his does. He's south of you near Fresno. Maybe you could post in the wanted section I'm sure someone would be willing to send you a bare root lily or two, for just the cost of shipping.

Awesome idea.....I will have to look into it!

More updates!!! I finally got some fish into my 55 gallon so I transfered the 4 rosy barbs into the pond. I also found ONE (that was it!) white cloud at the store so I got it also. One of the rosy barbs was pinched between two rocks for sometime in the aquarium. We noticed there were only 3 of them feeding, we figured that one was hiding and no big deal. Well he was stuck for at least 3-4 days. How he is alive, I don't know. He had 3 large open sores and his tail fin is almost missing. Now that he is in the pond, the magical powers should heal him fast. I will keep an eye on him. And keep you updated.

The pond is even clearer now, I would say its as clear as the aquarium. I can find all my fish really quickly now. I really hope passing birds don't see the fish in the pond now. Before you really couldn't see much so they were protected, now the cover has been lifted!

The waterfall is working good now, but the splashing is keeping the wood wet. It might cause the boards to rot. I will snap a pic later so people can give me ideas on how to fix it!

FaNtAsTiC Setup Lousybreed!!! :D

Love what you've done!!!!!!

Check walmart for water lilies. I found a box of two a few years ago for $10. They're still doing great, I have ~5 flowers open right now.

Your pond looks fantastic btw, I'm very jealous!

I like it. Just read all 18 pages...

It's some long reading.....

Today the water is crystal clear. I can observe all the fish very easily. Now that I dumped the rosy barbs in the pond there is one huge school of fish. The gold barbs, rosy barbs, and the swordtails all swim around. The injured rosy barb still has sores but he is eating alot so I think he will make it.

really cool, can we have more pics thanks

AWESOME!!

I havent checked out this thread until now, and I'm glad I did! Thats pretty cool having tropical fish outside; Im sure your fish will thrive in their new environment.

have any pics?!?!

Softball today and tomorrow and then I'm going to Napa Valley for some wine tasting this weekend. I will see if I can fit in some pic time in......

The rosy barb with the injuries appears to be getting better, I think he will make it. Later
