daisychain eheim filters can it be done?

Is it possible to daisy chain two external filters together. I was thinking of having one output pipe from the tank feeding an eheim performing mechanical filtration and the output from this filter going in to another filter for biological filtration and the output from this filter back in to the tank. Would this work ? would the filters need to be exactly the same make model, would it burn out the motors? any advice is greatly appreciated

Never heard of it being done. Why not use them independently. I think the way you want to use them may present problems.

Bad idea - even the same model, the load on the motors will vary and one or the other may go.

You can prefilter a bio-only canister to protect the biomedia from debris, but you will need another, parallel but independent filter for mechanical only. See:
