just how mean are they? i have a true perc who is killling off fish i try to add to his tank (a small false perc and a pygmy angel). we would like to add another fish to the tank but are afraid he'll kill anything we put in - so i was thinking about a damsel, a blue velvet damsel. just a thought i had but i'm leaning towards no as the tank is only 29 gallons and i just don't think that'd be big enough for 2 aggressive fish... what do you think?

lol there is a reason they call them the little devils of saltwater xD I would just work on trying to introduce your new fish differently. If you add a damsel you might end up with only a $4 fish left in the tank. They are also a pain to catch (dart fast and hide in rock work).

You already know the answer Salty...a clownfish is a damselfish.

One possibility is to remove the clown when a new fish goes in, let the new fish get comfortable and then re-introduce the clown with a bit of a rock change.

When I had that Yellow Damsel it beat up on everything in the tank including the Tang.

Before you add the damsel, move the rocks around, it will confuse the clown and he will try to "re-establish" his domain.

Thats about the best advice...I certainly would not go out and buy an actual damsel fish..simply remove the territory's and introduce the new fish at the same time...All should be fine in my opinion...
