How long have you had it running? Whats the ammonia, nitrite ,nitrate and phosphates? Stop the algae fix , its only short term anyway. There is something that is causing this algae and it is more than likely excess of nutrients. Give as much information about the tank that you can.

chloramine?

Test your tap water for chloramine. You may be using an incorrect water conditioner, some say 'treats chloramine" but all they do is break the chloramine up and release the ammonia, then they don't treat the ammonia.

Take a gallon of fresh tap water, test for ammonia (should be zero). Treat with water conditioner, test again for ammonia. If you find any, change your water conditioner.

i use start right from jungle it removed chloine and chloramine at lest it says it does.... and ill try to get those levels for you all...i dont have a chlorine tester right now ......i ran out of it in my master kit....and i dont have either nitrite or nitrate.....i have kh and the rest of them

test ammonia

You don't need to test for chlorine, test for ammonia, as I described.

Start Right does not mention anything about treating ammonia. It says it treats chloramine and chlorine. But, beware, it breaks chloramine into chlorine and ammonia, but it leaves the ammonia there to hurt fish and feed algae.

So, get a gallon of water and test as I described. That will tell you if you have chloramine or chlorine. If ammonia suddenly shows up after using a water conditioner then you have both chloramine treated water AND your water conditioner is not correct.
