Darn parent!

Excuse me but you are way off there! What exactly do you base that opinion on? I have always loved and respected all animals and in my experience, girls are, in general, more sensitive, gentle and caring than most boys. However, you can't generalize about either gender or were you just trying to get some of us riled up? :mad2:

I remember as a kid there was a neighbor boy that delighted in torturing small animals, even setting them on fire. Then there were the boys that shot my cat with a .22 (fortunately, despite a hole the size of a quarter in his thigh, he survived). And what about serial killers? Most of them tortured animals as children and most of them are male. But I'm ranting.
There is nothing 'evil' about it. It's all in how you are raised and has little to do with gender (in some cases I believe there may be a genetic factor involved as far as mental illness etc)!
Let me guess, you're quite young aren't you? Perhaps have a kid sister that annoys you??

(clears throat)....Not all the time! As gross and crude as it sounds, I have a brother that when he was 6 stepped on the head of our hamster fluffy, just for fun.

Today though he is 28 and has a housefull of tanks and live pets.....and no intended casualties.

Hey judge......I backed out of the garage with the car door open once and almost took the darn thing clean off !! I had glanced back over my right shoulder to be sure everyone was buckled in...and didn't notice that the door behind me was open...and of course, no one in the back seat bothered to tell me... "

u do have some serious driving issues at times come from 1 who would really know but i think most part we all have driving issues.man & women but it's all good

after working all summer at petsmart, I've decided that every person that walks in the door with a kid in tow needs to be fitted with a remote-controlled bark-collar. that way, when the kid acts up, and the parent ignores it (as seemed to be the norm - what is parenting these days coming to??) and we hit the button, and zap the parent...

ACK!!!! Not in my experience!! I have two kids, an eleven year old boy and a 6 year old girl. BOTH have great love and respect for animals. We have a lot of pets (50+ PET chickens, a TAG, a P. P'let, 2 cats, 1 dog, one very old hamster and two tanks, each child has a 3 gallon betta bowl in their room ) My children are taught respect for all animals...fish included. Even at their ages, I would never allow them to carry the bag of fish, my kids are good, but I would rather have a healthy fish and not worth the risk.
There are GOOD parents out there too and more importantly, there are good kids. They only know what they are taught. Just seems like you don't find either very often
It brings to mind a trip to the LFS. A man and woman were buying some fish. They had a little girl with them. WHen the man (the father I assume) was handed the bag the little girl threw a fit wanting the bag. They handed it over to her. I cringed thinking it was an accident waiting to happen. She was only about 4 years old. ALL thru the store you could hear the dad threatening to "Beat the sh*t" (his exact words) out of her if she dropped the bag. All I could think was "TAKE THE BAG FROM HER!!" no chance of it being dropped then and no threats of beating her. I was mortified with both the fathers language and the entire situation. Just imagine...if he used that language with her in public...what's it like at home??? Poor kid...stupid man. He kept yelling at her about it until she was crying and trying to hand the bag of fish back to him out of pure fear. He refused to take it and says "You wanted it, you got it....but if you drop it I WILL beat the ....." well, you get the idea.

That's absolutely uncalled for. On another note, while I believe that not all children are naturally born with empathy and compassion towards animals, it's your job as a parent to teach them that and to also protect the animals in question.
