Day Three, is this right??

Well i am on day three of the cycle, yeeeeeehaw huh?? Tested this afternoon and have:
Ammonia .50
Nitrite 0.0
Nitrate 0.0
PH 7.2
Did a 1/3 water change which was about 25 gallons. Will test again tonight. AM i doing this right??????????

fishless or fish cycle?

if its a fishless cycle then you shouldnt water change.

if its a fish cycle i would do a water change any time ammonia is over .25. i would do a 25-50% water change.

I did not change water while I was cycling my tank.

Yes it is Fish Cycle, sorry. Have 4 Giant Danios and a Red SHoulder Severum. ALl seem good the Severum is about quarter size and has all his stripes. They are eating well, espeiclly the dnios, man the fly towards the food.

keep testing and when ammonia and nitrites show up then do a water change. i try to do 50% water changes.

you should not cycle your tank with five fishes though. I think you have many fishes in your tank.

you'd better do a water change. not that the fish you chose are exactly fragile, but red shoulder sevs arent exactly cheap.

during a fishy cycle, you need to keep your ammoina and nitrite under 0.25. every time either reaches 0.5, do a 50% water change.

I did do a water change this afternoon. Ammonia looked to be on the card around .50. Sev is showing great color, is just a lil shy. has found a great hiding place under the huge piece of driftwood i got. lil sucker is hard to see under there. Sev costs me 9.99 at my LFS!!!!!!!!! I will keep the ammonia down no matter what it takes. i am committed to do this right. Will test again tonight to see what changes the water change made, and if need be will do another one in the morning before work.
