Dead Balla gourmi and Clown Loach

I wouldn't recommend any pleco for a smaller tank. I have been researching plecos for my 35G and I have found that even the smaller plecos have tank recommendations of minimum 30 G.

There are plenty of plecos that would be fine in a 35gal tank. I'm not sure where your getting your information from, but you may want to try another source.

Clown pleco-Panaque maccus size 4"
Queen Arabesque Pleco-L260 size 3.5"
Zebra pleco-Hypancistrus zebra-L046 size 3"
Rubbernose Pleco-Bulldog Pleco-Chaetostoma milesi size 5"
Bristlenose pleco-Ancistrus sp size 5"

The list goes on and on.

actually, I though the layout for a 75g was 5' long x 2' deep x 20" wide, but I guess that's more like a 100 something gallon. you're right. 4' isn't enough turning room.

Those dimensions are actually a 150 gallon tank... a quick and easy way to see approx. how much water a certain aquarium size will hold (works only on rectangular tanks *and yes, squares are a special kind of rectangle*) is to multiply (in inches) the length, width, and height together, and then divide the total by 233. (I know some people use 231, but I use 233 to get a slight under calculation for volume, to be sure there is at least that much water, just because not everyone fills their tank to the exact same spot)

Tai, I was using liveaquaria.com and several other sites the recommendations I have seen are as follows:

Queen Arabesque - up to 4" - 50G
Gold Nugget - up to 6" - 50G
zebra pleco - up to 3" - 30G
tiger pleco - up to 6" - 30G
Bushy nosed pleco - up to 4.5" - 30G

thatpetplace.com also has similar recommendations - 30G for queen arabesque, 20G for a rubbernose, so they are more liberal for the tank sizes, but still don't recommend tanks that are too small. Personally for the best for the fish I will lean more toward the conservative estimation. Just my opinion though :)

Hey everyone i would just like to give all of you the update on what happened to my tank. I realized that my once a week water changes i was doing wrong because i was using my sunctioning thing and taking water from the top of tank instead of the bottom which is where all the poop and yucky stuff gets stuck between the gravel therefore i think i had a higher level of amonia and nitrates on the bottom then the top of the tank since i only tested the water with the water on top where i was doing water changes. I think that the combination of that and the ick meds killed my fish i did a good 25% water change from the bottom took two samples of water to the bet store from the bottom and top of the tank they both tested great so i added a pair of chinese algae eaters which only get about 4 inches and they have been in my tank for about 3 days now. My tank is alot cleaner after just 3 days i am so suprised by how quick they work. I currently have these fish in my tank 2 chinnese algae eaters 3 zebra danios 3 white clouds and 1 ball which i believe the white spot on his nose is actually just a chemical burn from the ick meds it's not getting any worse or anything.

So my new question is what should i add to this tank next i was thinking of 2 rainbow sharks or 3 swordtails 1 male 2 female..... thank god all of my fish are finnaly healthy yaaaaayyyy

I'm glad to hear that things are doing well, but to ensure that they remain that way, I'd hold off on adding fish for the time being. Let the tank catch up to its new bio-load, and make sure that there is no aggression issues with the algae eaters. (they can and will become aggressive when they mature) I'd give it 2-3 weeks and just make sure everything flows smoothly before adding more fish for now, but that's just my opinion.

Be sure to quarantine any new arrivals, too, so as not to introduce something else to your tank...

the lady at the store said that i can add 2-3 fish every week as long as i bring in my water samples and they test them every week before do you think it would be ok if i did that and if my levels are perfect and i'm maintaining my tank very well i dont think i should have any diseases i think the reason that i got ick in the first place was because i added fish quicked then 2-3 a week and i was cleaning my tank wrong

If a fish (or snail, or plant, or ornament) has ich on it in some way it will infect the tank, no matter when you put it in. Quarantine is to catch things like this before they are spread to your main tank.
waiting a few weeks is a good idea, but you still have to make sure youre not overstocked and that your fish are compatable. Tank maintenance should be weekly (or more) gravel vacuuming/water change of 40-50%, algae scraping, etc. And monitering water parameters. These things will help keep your tank healthy, and with all that work you want to keep it healthy. It wont do a bit of good if you introduce pathogens, no matter how you go about it.

When youre doing your gravel vacuuming, be sure to dig the siphon down into the gravel, so as to get all that very fine mulm out of there.

yea thats what i have been doing lately
