Perhaps he didn't mean that you would actually get colon cancer-just that it would be bad for the ole digestive tract. I thought it was... funny, in a weird sick kinda way, and I highly doubt he actually ate the fish, so I think whether or not he would get sick is kinda a non issue anyway as it was quite obviously a joke, especially at the end.
