Dead Fish... Itch or something else

Do of course make sure it's as close to your temperature as you can, just like with a regular water change. You'll be using warmer water do to your higher temp now, so it will be fine. :hi:

Hmmm DOH!! :duh:

Yes I can make it close to same temp... Glad I bought the Gianormus box of salt. Well I will get a water change done.... Just checked my parameters yesterday evening and they were great so... I guess I need to go get a gravel Vac tomorrow....

GOOD LUCK. I just bought a little cheapy vac at walmart when that happened. I still use it. I eventually want a python. Hey whatever works!!! :)

Once the target level of salt is reached. Just add enough salt to compensate for the water you removed. In other words if you have a 10 gallon tank, slowly add 20 teaspoons of Salt to reach you target level. Then if you do a 5 gallon water change, add only 10 teaspoons of salt to compensate for the 10 teaspoons (5 Gallons) you removed.

IMHO weekly water changes are sufficient if your tank is cycled, and everything else is in good shape. With salt, organic levels in the tank do not effect treatment, so extrea vaccuming isn't needed. Extra vaccuming does dtand to remove the ich cysts so it never hurts to do so, just isn't a requirement for treatment.

might be white spot i had that same thing happen to me

White spot is Ich, so yes it is white spot.

One more thing, make sure the salt crystals are thoroughly dissolved in water before you put it in your tank. The salt can cause burns if it touches your fishies. In other words, don't just dump a whole bunch of salt directly into your aquarium.

Best of luck!

Ok good then My parameters are in good range so I will do weekly water changes and add salt to the amount of water I remove. Fish seem to be doing good. I can tell for sure they are not happy with this ich business but other than that looks good. I do have one fish that is just hanging out on the bottom use to be real active so I am praying it doesnt die my 4yr old picked it out and MAN I dont want to see her cry.....

Thanks for the help

Lost another Fish today An albino tiger Barb.... The little white molly is hanging out on the bottom but is still alive..... I check my parameters right after I found it and they were Great. So I guess Ich just did them in... I dont guess I read the article good enough what is the scientific name for Ich and how do fish caitch it? Any other articles that you peeps might have read would be great....

I'm not much help here with all the technical stuff. I know that it's called ichthyophthirius Multifilis, most commonly of course ich or white spot. It can come from stress or poor water conditions. I've also read that it can of course come from new plants or fish brought in from your lfs. That's about all I know. I just google and read about it. I'm not the greatest about remembering all the mumbo jumbo that goes with it. Sorry I can't be more help. I'm sure someone will send you a link or something. If I knew how to do it I would. :)
