well one of them is not a fish its a frog, my adf died while he seemed to be perfectly happy, and my goldfish died but he was like half alive when i took him out, i think the killer was the tiger barb he's being really violent all of a sudden, what happened? anyways he's going back to the store TONIGHT! :mad2: big meany. any who hopefully it was his fault and not something wrong with the water. what r some signs i should look for in thte ohter fish as poor health or bad water?

Don't know...what are your readings on ammonia, nitite, nitrate, pH, GH, KH? Last water change? What size tank, how many and what kind of other fish?

it would be the tiger barbs fault if your goldfish and ADF had wounds and nipped fins on them, although why you have a tiger barb with goldfish and ADF's is something i don't understand. tiger barbs do best when they have their own kind to school with.

buy a freshwater master test kit like one from API and test your water parameters. thats the only way you'll find out if the water was the problem.

also, what is the size of your tank? (gallons)

i dont know my readings have nothing to measure, the tank was overstocked with a tiger barb two platy a mollie and the horrid goldfish, in a two gallon, once again thanks to petco.

I have read some of your other posts and I think it is safe to say it was your Tiger Barb.

ok my molly just died i thought they were compatible with barbs? do you think the fish tank size and over stocking finally took its toll i've two fish and a frog they didnt seem to have anything wrong with them like ick or anything but they just went poof all of a sudden. could it be that the size and overstocking be at fault too?

if its a two gallon just like you metioned, then yes it was overstocked... you could buy test kits and test your water parameters...
was your tank cycled to begin with?

its didnt go through a fishless cycle....i'm a bad fishy mommy, actually i was just misinformed. well tomorrow i'm getting a bigger tank hopefully if i do everything by the book this time whats left will survive. should i let it cycle without fish or with fish?

Fishless is safer of course. But you already have some fish hmmm.. Whatever course of action you take, you are going to need those test kits. And if you go fishy cycling, you would have to step up with lots of partial water changes, good luck

I just did a fishy cycle in my 40g long. I did water changes every day. At the beginning before I learned how to feed the fish it was 5 gallon in the morning before I went to work, and I did a 15 gallon when I got done with supper in the evening. Cycling with fish took some ummmph outa me every day, but I did not loose a single fish and none seemed to get any damage. I am looking to get me another tank soon, and I have learned my lesson about cycling..... fishless is the way to go.
