How I can tell if my mistery snail is dead? it has not move in the las 24 hours. It would be a shame is he or she is dead is really a beatiful bright yellow snail. please tell me.

Pick it up and smell it. If it's dead you'll have a very strong urge to vomit. They get a smell like week-dead rat instantly as soon as they die it seems. If it's just a faint fishy smell, its still alive.

:barf:Definitely. Its a baaaaaaad smell. Also, press his operculum (the little plate that he uses like a door). Does it move? If the door is partially open, it's probably dead, as the muscles loosen up when they die. If he's alive, he'll keep his door shut tight.

thank you! i bought two of them one is fairly active (get something against my decoration) but the other is really peaceful. already checked them they smell ok and he/she kept his door shut. thanks

Good to hear! They do sometimes sit closed up in one spot for a fairly long time, and sometimes they do it floating at the top of the tank. They had me pretty well panicked for my first few weeks as a snail-keeper. :)
