Dealing... how did you do it?

Actually, it has totally cleared up on it's own. :) It looks beautiful again... but the NitrItes show no sign of changes. My pH had dropped down to 7 though, clearly something is nitrifying. At least it's not cloudy anymore.

NitrItes still around 20 ppm. Tank has cleared on its own. Ammonia disappears quickly, as usual. I'm having to buff the pH/kH almost daily. It goes from the 7.2 I bring it up to every day, to about 6-6.2.

This is day 21 of NitrItes this high, and no change in NitrAtes.

Because it's mentioned in the fishless cycling instructions as something to do when the pH drops (as a result of the nitrification?), and was recommended repeatedly back with my first thread about the low kH. I was also under the impression that a pH going to 6 or less could endanger and slow down the bacteria growth, that it prefers 7.2. It's not that I've never mentioned it, I've mentioned it in many many threads (including my own)...

I'm not trying to adjust the pH, I'm adjusting the kH, which in my water is very low. (Creates a lot of instability especially now.)

At any rate, it's not like I'm using an adjustor - is Baking Soda harmful to the cycling process somehow?

Earlier today it was 20~ ppm NitrItes, 5 ppm NitrAtes, pH had dropped to 6 so I added a bit to get it back to 7.2.
