death came quickly...muahahah

haha, yeah, i'd feel strange purchasing a syringe as well. but don't dispair, you can tell if someone is an IV drug user or not. i used to work at a retail pharmacy, and when people would come in and buy needles it was easy to tell if they were drug users or not...trust me. i'm sure you don't fit that description. thankfully, i work in a hospital now, so i can just get a syring/needle when i need it. pretty convenient.

As a chef the only thing I use my turkey baster for is in the fish tank...to get a moist bird your better off stuffing the cavity w/ diced carrot, onion, celery and parsley and keeping to oven door shut..every time you open to door to bast the bird your dropping to temp in the oven and giving the bird and inconsistent cooking temp....Def use the baster for the tank and not for the turkey...

mmmm, rlgirl. now i'm hungry!! my mom always used oven bags for the thanksgiving turkey, and it always came out PERFECT. man...now i really want some home cookin...

Asterina stars are not that bad, and one persons opinion does not make a bad inhabitant....How an inhabitant is, is gauged by how we monitor them in the tank and what we see them do....

I've got to admit I've got quite a few in both of my tanks and both tanks have corals in and I've not noticed any damage. I am keeping a close eye on everything but at the moment I'm not removing them.

i agree that not everything is bad. maybe i overreacted, but i really don't want them in the tank if there's even a chance that it could be bad. if i have a fish that might go anti-coral, or a crab or something...i can take it out no problem. asterinas, however, can disppear, and reproduce quickly, so removing them once established is much more difficult. i just don't want to sabotage my new tank :) i appreciate everyone's advice!

i also had ton amongst TONS of the little staries in my tank, i never knew they were "bad" "apparently". mine are forever up and down the back wall, cleaning up!! i could never erradicate them, they pop up everywhere. if they do bad thou, who knows what will happen, just finished my first bottle of majano destroyer, now those are a pain in the..... to get rid of!

What is majano?

woodright, a majao is a type of anemone, and it's commonly considered a pest in similar fashion to aiptasia. here's a link to a previous post about them here on ac.

there's a link to a pic in the post, but here's another one from a different perspective.

i'm always on the lookout for them, as i don't want to get them started in my tank. evern though they are quite beautiful, i would eradicate them as soon as i saw one in my tank for sure.
