Death trap

thank you for the info. sorry for the incorrect suggestion :)

Well, no.. not at all, crimson. That's all we can do is offer the best advice we can think of whenever we see someone asking for help. That's really what all of us are doing. :) We do the best we can with all the info and resources we have available and we try to use our best judgement. Everything we know about this hobby is an accumulation of knowledge we get from sharing first-hand experiences with each other. It really is difficult to find consistently reliable information out there.

According to the best information I've found, sustained temperatures up to approx 72 or 73 degrees is as high as we should keep them. So I wouldn't go as high as 75 degrees for extended periods of time.

That natural metabolic rate for any fish is a consideration that's incredibly difficult for us to just figure out on our own if watching them is all we have to go on. The fish are swimming around and being playful and cute because that's just how goldfish are. So it's easy to imagine the higher temperature ranges must be good for them. It's just that we end up speeding up all their bodily functions artificially by doing this indefinitely. Remember, goldfish have a very long natural lifespan (ranging from 10-40 years, depending on which breed it is) and the level of care/conditions we give them as they grow to maturity and continue on over the years is what determines their longevity.

and thats why i love AC ;)
keep doin what you do kashta! :D
