I have a small tank with 4 danios - 3 of them "glow fish" - a bright neon green, yellow and orange. The fourth is a fancy zebra. The green and yellow fish are quite tiny and their bodies are becoming bent in the middle. They seem OK - they eat normally and swim normally, but I was wondering if anybody knows why they're getting bent. Thanks in advance for any info. (And Happy New Year! - I haven't posted in a while...)

Yeah, glofish are very poorly bred (they are too badly inbred), the fish will most likely get more bent and may or may not be ok living like that. If it was something more serious suh as TB, then they would be dying off quickly, so most likely not that.
If you don't think they are happy living that way you can use clove oil to put them down. It is your call. You might be able to trade them back for new ones from the LFS that sold them to you.

LOL i have the same exact problem with one of my WalMart zebra. his spinal cord looks wavy, thus his lines are wavy too. i have another weird one that was a really skinny body but large eyes and scraggly fins.

one has a missing eyeball too.

OK - thanks for the info. At least I know it's not something in the tank or with the food. They're pretty little things and my daughter was attracted by them. We'll let them live out their natural lives and try some other fish after that.

I've yet to see a tank of glofish looking as healthy as tankful of plain old zebra danios. And it doesn't matter whether it's at an LFS or national chain.

Well, since I posted my question a week ago, the little green glofish seems to have become more bent, and I thought we were going to lose the yellow one the other day, but it rallied. Do they suffer like this? Do they feel pain?

We don't really know with this, we know that fish are able to feel pain in certain situations, like with being burned. If they are having trouble eating or swimming, then I would put them down with some clove oil. you can search the forum for info if you want to do that, it would be the best way.
What size tank do you have? If you want some stocking advice for your tank in the future we can help you with that.
