I picked up a betta at Walmart today, this specific walmart got a rather large shipment of bettas (male and female) maybe a month or so ago, and the selection was a bit depleted by the time I got around to going today, but one of them did stand out to me... I've seen mainly veiltails in stores, and sometimes crowntails... but this one was different. I have looked it up online and suspect it is a delta tail. I bought him, he's black and a steel blue color. Has anyone seen other tail types tossed in with the veiltails?

I'm hoping he's okay.... I put him in a new tank I was starting in the bathroom, and I figured "eh bettas are hearty little buggers" and I threw some of my leftover crushed coral in there... I guess the water was too hard or something. He hasn't been acting so great, hanging out behind the heater and not being too active and his... I don't know the term. Fins by his gills... keep going real fast. This morning I put him in with my DP's, which is a cycled tank and neutral water, hoping they'll leave him alone until I can get his tank outside and get out all the crushed coral and get some regular gravel.

EDIT: he seems much happier in that tank...
there's also a possibility that a little bit of soap may have gotten into the tank I had him in earlier. Is there a chance for a tank that has had some soap in it, if I rinse it very thoroughly?
Anyways, here's pics of him. He seems to be doing fine, but he's a bit shy since I just put him in there, so I couldn't get any great pics. He has a nice snakeskin sort of pattern on certain fins in certain places.

Just go Bare Bottom if you need to! DP's can be really mean and it's better to get him out of there before he gets harmed.

Yeah that's what I'm doing. I'm draining his tank now and I'm going to take it out in the yard and rinse it very very well. The DP's are ignoring him so far.

You can see some pattern on his fins here....
