:) Varing the diet will keep it interesting & healthy for the JD. The JD, as well as my 'O', get what some would consider a bit extreme ($$$). DAINICHI http://www.dainichi.com/cichlid_food_ultima.html pellets about 75% & supplements/treats are worms, crickets, crayfish, krill, spirulina/algae wafers & peas. Truly, you don't need all this but it's worked well for me. He was about 2 inches at purchase but has grown up quite well over the last 2+ yrs. "T"

Yeah it did. I tried to put it back into my 55 gallon but my GT's got to him/her before it had a chance to settle in. Right now my JD is living in my QT tank untill Buy a Bigger tank or bulid a plywood one this summer.

Tony do you use the floating pellets?

hey mike d how old are your dempseys?or how long have you had them ahnd how big were they when you bought them?

so how many people agree that i can get away with feeding jack the ripper brine shrimp every other day until i get him on bloodworms?

i thought he was picky before now he wont even touch flakes so i wanna make sure hes getting enough to eat...

Got them in Jan. they were about the size of a sharpie cap. The other one I have in my 55 gallon eats flake Hikira cichlid bio-Gold and brine shrimp. The other one that is in my QT tank use to eat the same thing but now only eats bring shrimp or bloodworms.
