Dempsey's laid eggs today and the female won't let the male close to them. They have bred in the past and always taken care of the eggs together. They are in a 55 gal. tank with 3 giant danios and she keeps him pushed to the opposite side of the tank even though he is larger. Is this normal?

Your pictures didnt work.

I would say that this is normal. A lot of female fish do that when they lay eggs. The female is just protecing them, i dotn know why they stopped doing it together. If they male is bigger then her, he has an advantage, so he probably wont get injured.

Thank you for the reply.I am puzzled by their behavior.

I am not sure why the pic isn't working.I'm new at posting pics so i'm not sure what went wrong.

Thanks again.:D

I just added a diffrent link you can try.

That one worked, I wouldnt worry about it unless you see serious wounds from one of them or one is in one corner of the tank getting chased around by the other one.
