"Although people with piercings should have no problem sleeping on the bed, Ruijssenaars advises them against entering the magnetic field between the bed and the floor.

They could find their piercing suddenly tugged toward one of the magnets.

Haha...yeah, VERY cool !

I occasionally wonder what sorts of things we can do with that repelling force that magnets generate.....I know that trains that glide over the tracks rather than run ON them have been experimented with...not sure if they're actually in use anywhere or not though.

Fascinating.....quite fascinating !

Aren't those trains being used over in Japan right now.
yes, they have beem for at least a decade, haven't they? the Bullet Train, right?

I couldn't sleep in that bed, my ears, and not just my lobes, would be pulled off (although I have fewer piercings than I used to ;) ) Never went below the face, tho, that wasn't for me.

Which begs the question of what sleeping next to a strong magnetic field 8 hours nightly would do to you long-term.

Earth's first "Castro Convertible Magnetic Bed":

To bad they didn't know how to use it back then...

The "beds" are similar:
