Desktop Aquarium Stocking

I got a Mini-Bow 2.5 for X-mas, and I replaced the Whisper filter with a Red Sea Nano. looks better and takes up a lot less room. I have a betta and had 4 ghost shrimp( I can only find 3, I think the betta had one for dinner!).

I would be leary of a tank without a lid in case the fish decided to make a jump for it :thud: . Bettas aren't really "known" for jumping, but alot of them do and really any fish can jump out of an uncovered tank if they are so inclined. I would not want to start out my Monday with a shriveled fish on my desk :( LOL

Party Pooper here :)

I have one of those Eclipse corner tanks. I use it as a QT tank.

I absolutely HATE it ;)

Bowfronts tend to magnify and distort your view of fish. I mean, my 36g bow distorts, but it doesn't bother me the way it does some people. Obviously I'm not that touchy about distortion. However, that corner tank distorts so much that it bothers me AND I think the fish I QT in there. Any fish I've put in that tank has acted jumpy and nervous. The minute I move them to a different QT tank, they are fine. Even the little 2.5g Explorer is preferred by the fish over that 5g.

The only part of the tank that you can put a net flat against is the back, and the fish in there soon figure that out :)

I'm going to paint the back and sides of that beastie with black acrylic paint. Hoping that will lessen the feeling that you are going to fall on your face every time you look into it.

Just my 2 cents and I love playing devil's advocate sometimes ;)

Love that little corner tank...I have a fiend that wants one of my snails, I think that would be the perfect tank..Thanks for the link!

 Gotta look out for those snail fiends! :joke:

EMG I'm disappointed in you. You're passing up a perfectly good opportunity to suggest Multis. The 2.5g might be too small, but I think you could still do a pair (It'd be less than two inches of fish, for whatever that's worth). you could do a pair of just about any shelldweller in the 5g.

And can someone please explain the purple string to me?

Lol Moo....I was thinking that a 2.5 would be too small, judging by the explosion of mulities that I've had ! I ended up moving my multies into the 20long and kicking the stappersi into the 15 I finally got to replace the 10.

Going by the behavior of my stapps, I wouldn't suggest anything smaller than a 15 for a pair of those. I have a trio in my 15 and one of them can't seem to find a place of her own in there. THe other two are always shooing her away.

I bet a pair of brevis would go in a 2.5 though. They don't move more than 6 inches away from their shells.....but other than that, they aren't much for action and interest. I ended up trading mine for the trio of Stapps I have now.

Purple string.....??..........lol....check this thread out.... http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65476&page=1
