My beloved barramundi, Desmond, has velvet. I'm extremely worried. he is rubbing against driftwood and rocks so much he has rubbed himself raw :(. I am doing a 65% WC and will be raising the temperature by about 4*C. Wish me and Desmond luck :/

Just raising temp without appropriate remedies can do more harm than good in case of Velvet, if this is velvet to begin with.

I have read that it is a good idea to treat velvet by turning up the temp. and slightly salting the water while treating with copper something-or-other that i can't think of right now and also turning off/dimming lights. I have done all of those except the actual medication.

My point exactly!!

It depends on the stages of infection and/or condition of fish as well as other environemntal factors. IT is never a simple cut. Something each individual should determine based on their observations/evaluations.

I am getting some meds this afternoon and I did another 50% W/C. I also dropped the temp. back to normal. He hasn't shown any improvement but hasn't gotten any worse. I sit and watch this fish especially because he has so much prsonality and i noticed he went off his food a week or so ago, so I thought that it was just another one of his moods (yes, my fish gets moody when I don't feed him). The only other fish in the tank are 2 silver dollars.

Full dosage??
Since never used this product, wondering how silver$ are reacting to this concoction?

Ive always exercised bit of caution when trying antiparasitc meds on finely scaled/scaless fish (Metynnis Sp, etc) for first time to avoid any possible catastrophic reactions displayed by such fish to full dosage.

Hope all goes well
