ok my we use Di-humidifiers in our house during the summer. what i was wondering is how safe would you think the water is from that i mean we get about 3 gallons a day from it and i was thinking i might be able to use it

No. It isn't safe to use the water. It draws the moisture from the room and converts it into liquid by means of thermodynamics. Pollutants suspended in the air are concentrated higher volume when it becomes a liquid.

Yes, I too thought of using water from my dehumidifier also until I learned this.

I'd be more concerned with metals leaching off the coils if the water is condensing on metal coils or sitting on metal tubing for any length of time.

Pollutants...concentrated? Any links to that theory? I'm not saying it's bogus, just that I don't know everything (once again) and like to have more info :)

That being said, I pour the water from our dehumidifier into a 5gal bucket, add about two cups of tap water to add some minerals and let it sit for a week before using it for water changes in an experimental 15gal tank, planted with brigs snails and cherry shrimp. Inverts being more susceptible than most fish to pollutants and metals, I thought I'd try it. Been running since last fall (~8months) and no problems so far. YMMV

How many more pollutants can there be then the stuff thats already in our tap water? I'd also like some more information on the subject, this is good to know.

My main concern would be that the water is stipped on minerals and whatnot.

well with my water that is defiantly the case. a 200 year old house is not conducive to good water quality. hell i don't even have to does some types of firts for my planted tank because of it.. now that i think about it i would think it actually might be missing come of the stuff in my well water that i might not want. if i didn't have to move back to school in a week i would defiantly start a test tank too
