Diana Walstad tank method question

In your last pic, what's that ruffly looking light green plant towards the top of the aquarium?

That is a lotus. They come in the green and red varieties. They start out small and cute - by the way the grow very tiny leaves close to the substrate they look as though they would be good in a very small tank, but then they become monsters! I wish you the best with your planted tank! I could never ever go back to plastic or silk.

Having read up on Diana Walstad's ideas I find nothing to call crazy, or threating. I see nothing wrong with her ideas if that is the route you want to go. The only shorty-coming I find is that is requires someone to be detailed oriented a bit more than I can manage.

My tanks might make a better "don't do this" model, but it works for me. I feel that the bottom line should be what is best for you and the healthiest for your fish at the same time. There is no point spending hours and hours or dollars and dollars just to say I copied someone else's ideas. Do something simply because it's what you want to do and don't let anyone dissuade you from trying if it is safe for all concerned.
