Diatom algae

Brown hairy diatoms are making me crazy. I have been told they are a natural phase which will go away as the tank becomes more seasoned, it is only 3 months in, and to clean it out manual as needed till then. Is this true is there another way.

Diatoms are usually like brown dust everywhere, not hairy...or was that a frustrated term? Can you post a pic?

Tank lights off but yes like a brown film or dust seems to bet all over the Hornwort and in the mosses, does get hairy or balled up if I don’t remove it. I’ll add a photo tomorrow.
