I'm currently treating my tank for ich and was considering running a diatom filter for a few hours a day with fresh medium each time.

I'm treating with heat and quinine. Is there any chance that it could filter out any of the medication? Probably a stupid question...but hey, it's the newbie forum. :)

I don't think diatom filters can deal with chemicals. They're mainly for particulates. However, any carbon you have in your filters will definitely take the meds out of the water.

I could be wrong, however. Anyone?

diatoms dont take out chemicals they take out all of the little particulate matter. Which includes floating ich cists however as im sure you know you can not use that as the only treatment for ich

Yeah, just looking for a little bump in the treatment. Figure every little bit helps.
