Diatom filters

it sounds like the phosphates are coming from the tap, since Jeff said the problem is worst right after WC's. Yeah, a good idea then would be to test your tap water. If it's really bad, maybe an RO unit is in order? That would get really expensive for your large tanks, tho.

As for the problem being worst in the summer, I've heard that municipal water supplies will add all kinds of different things during certain times of year. Like in summer, there can be lower pH in your tap water. I don't know why, but maybe it facilitates treatment of water in different season/temps.

I have no idea plah the other weird thing is this isnt a problem in my other 2 tanks 30 gallon and 20 gallon. Maybe I will just try the diatom for the heck of it and see if it works out. RTF once a day only what they eat in a couple minuteds but the water acctualy clears up as I get farther away from water change. I dont know the more im digging into this the less it seems I know about it lol. Ill have to get a phosphate kit tommorow to see if I can confirm that is it.

oh, yeah, I forgot about that. If it was the tap, you'd think you would have the same problem in all tanks. Weird...

Sure, if you can afford the diatom filter, why the heck not? It probably couldn't hurt anything. Let us know how it goes, huh?

That is a mystery.

Use one..two hours a week on all the big tanks. Once a month on the smaller ones.
