did u get the N1H1 flu shot?

i wouldnt get it. i dont think anyone in here knows about this since i think most of you havent done a whole lot of research on the vaccine and just listens to the news(didnt mean it in a mean way) but the name of the company thats making the vaccine is called baxter. i think in feb or april. they got caught contaminating the vaccine with i believe h5n1 or the bird flu virus inside the vaccine they got caught and the vaccine was sent out to something like 18 other countries. they claimed it was an "accidently" the virus is in level 3(which means its the highest level and very protective and serious) i dont see how thats an accident. but you be the judge. baxter had also been caught with contamination with some other drugs back in 2001 i believe. also, you know how the swine flu was first discovered in mexico? well guess what? baxter has a lab in mexico also. and i think the first person that caught it and died from it lived about 120 miles from baxter company. another thing is. Ukraine has another weird virus going around and killing some people. and guess what? baxter has a lab in the Ukraine too. but whats even more weird is that...a few weeks before it happened a man name joseph moshe came out to public and announced that baxters lab in the Ukraine is using the vaccine as a bioweapon. he claims that the vaccine is design to weaken your immune system. and of course he was arrested and never to be heard from again...is all this coincendence? you be the judge. you can call me crazy or dont believe me...just do your own research. and when i say research i dont mean fox or cnn cuz they will never tell you this. and if you think why would a company do this? look at bayers...they one time sold contaminted drugs with hiv in it over seas because they couldnt sold them in the states....why? because its always about money...im sure you guys should know that the pharmacy is about profit.

hey! to each their own I say. if one feels uncomfortable in taking the H1N1 vaccine we can not hold it against them. same goes for the reg. flu.

the H1N1 stats are what they are - small in comparison vs. the reg. flu.

but I sure hate to be the family that becomes a statistic because by some slim chance if we didn't opt to have our kids take it (mind you the govt/media has made it a point to highlight the higher risk for younger kids for this strain) they get it, have ensuing complications & then suffer tragedy.

again, I will repeat our experience earlier this yr with H1N1 with our daughter. healthy as can be, but our school district was basically decimated by the bug. BUT - fortunately no tragedies were reported. when our daughter contracted it she suffered thru 3 str8 days & nites of hi-grade fever (hi of 105 - very critical levels). no vaccine was available & yes she survived w/o tragedy striking our family. she was prescribed tamiflu - which helped mitigate the effects of the H1N1 flu bug.

BUT - as parents of a precious child, we were scared "sh1t" less - we both took off from work, we both were so scared, we both were petrified, since we could do nothing. a harrowing experience, unlike the reg. flu experience which we all had contracted in the past.

had we had the vaccine we never will know if it would have helped during this episode.

we opted to take it as we could not bare to undergo a similar bout of contracting this potentially devastating bug.

so please don't condemn us or those who do decide to take it. great that you & others who opt to not take it have not become statistics & suffer tragedies, but don't insult (or scoff or laugh at) those families who are now part of the statistics of having suffered tragedies with their own children (& mind you, they did not have a choice, they didn't have access to the vaccines even if they wanted it - it wasn't available only till recently).

I am glad no one on this forum has suffered for the worst or know anyone who might have - yes can be mild, yes can be overstated/overblown out of proportion. But we chose not to take that chance.

so everyone, we hope you all stay healthy or at least if you are lucky to get the flu, whether the reg. or H1N1, that is it a mild case for you.

just a Q? - does anyone know of anyone who contracted the H1N1 or the reg. flu bug & suffered tragic consequences? probably none, so the stats for our forum is 0%. how comforting one can take from this...

another pt - if you are in healthcare & you opt out of taking any vaccines, & you contract the bug plse stay home. or if anyone in your family or your friends you are in contact with contract the bug, then plse stay home. losing time at work is better than spreading the bug to others who may be in your care at your place of work. I don't agree with how health care establishments are making it mandatory that their workers be immunized - it should be an option. but they must protect the overall health of their facilities so if one opts out you should be considerate of others in their facilities to not go to work if you catch it. you don't want to be irresponsible in possibly causing the spread of the bug in your workplace & something tragic happens - on your watch!

I will point out - many workplaces (I worked in a bank) the directors/mgmt would make it mandatory if you are sick (whether the flu or other infectious illness) you are demanded to stay home, or if you go in you are forced to go home. they can ill afford you spreading the illness around having others get sick & possibly lose time from work.

I say for those who want to get some protection from the dual flu viruses take it but realize with all meds there are some risks - there will be some who may be allergic or have some adverse effect - minimal, mild or worst effects. espec. with the flu vaccines being cultured in eggs if you have allergies to dairy DON'T TAKE IT! of course everyone should consult their physician & feel comfortable with their advisement.

For those who think their immune system is so healthy & strong & think that if you contract the viruses will develop anti-bodies or if you have any fear of adverse reactions or who think this flu strain is no worst than the reg. flu strain, then I say don't take it. but realize that one can not develop anti-bodies against viruses to protect you over the long run.

to all those who have taken or who have not (so that means everyone) - realize that strains change from season to season - they develop vaccines for the most prevalent strain out there. know this also, for the so called reg. flu virus, the vaccine used 2-3yrs ago is not the same they are using today - for the so called reg. flu virus. viruses are one of the most prolific organisms on this planet that can adapt readily & rapidly. so science must stay on top of this.

the point being is this: every so many yrs. the vaccine has to be changed - so the vaccine can basically potentially be new every yr.

so goes with the H1N1 this year - there is the A strain now.

so if you have been getting your annual flu shots (like the elderly & infirmed do) you have been getting different vaccine strains over time, because viruses change.

will you stop taking it because of this fact - that the reg. flu vaccine can be a new version? or for those who refuse to take it - your point has been reinforced.

food for thought...

I'm disgusted by parts of this thread. Vaccines are generally safe, they are offered because there is a real threat to the overall health of our society. Especially young children and babies are at risk. Anyone who would be in contact with children should get it, it's your responsibility.

This fear over vaccines stems from ignorance. Read up on it yourself, don't listen to celebrities, or your coworkers. Get the facts on your own. Don't be part of the cycle of stupidity out there.

I just had the vaccine this morning,my immune system isn't 100%,if it was i would not have had it.My 17 year old son had swine flu earlier this year,i have to say he was pretty poorly,i'd never seen him that bad ever.So far my arm aches, but i get that with regular flu jab too.Watch this space lol
