Didn't turn off heater during wc

So if one of the fish had been touching the gravel, or an ornament, it wouldve completed the circut as well and been shocked? I know its a big IF, as Im sure the odds are pretty uneven, but lets just say.
I think that's a long shot, as you already said. There would have to be no gaps between the ornament, the tank, the stand, and finally to the ground. Plus all those different substances (glass, plastic, wood, etc.) probably don't facilitate the movement of an electrical current.

I was really much more of a mechanics person than Electricity and Magnetism. I basically tuned out that whole part of the semester. So I'm kind of making this stuff up as I go along, pretty good huh? All I really know is that electricity scares me. I've been hit by electrical fences, too. Not fun.

LOL! Yeah, it probably wouldnt work... and yeah, you do sound like you know what youre talking about! Electricity can be a b***h, but I sure do love it when it behaves.

thanks! I'm probably going to go into teaching (community college) and put my BSing skills to use! :D I think all professional academics like the sound of their own voice...

I feel exactly the same way you do about electricity. As long as it works and doesn't hurt me, I'm very happy.

i dont think it would do anything after all when you do a water change your only changing 10-40% of water and if heater is out of tank it should be fine the only way i think it would get cracked is if it was supper hot in the tank and super cold out side of it. I never unplug anything when i do a water change so..... but somebody correct me if i am wrong please

I bet that felt like crap plah! I ran across one of those cursed barking collars one day and thought I would see just how humane these things are. So I popped it on my arm (Thank God I didn't put it on my neck) and barked (yeah, go ahead and laugh) at it. That crap HURT! And it was on the lowest setting!!! Since then, I'm not a big fan of doing anything that may get me shocked!

whoa, you're brave! I've used those on my Doberman (who I got full-grown as a rescue, after abuse/neglect) and it was the only way I could get him to back down out of dog fights. I thought about trying it on myself but chickened out! Besides, dogs' necks are probably much stronger than anything on us. I would also think their fur would insulate it somewhat and dampen the shock a little?

p.s. i think you're cute for barking :)

I'm a Boy Scout leader. Couple years agp we had a campout on a farmers land. One of the lads needed to water the trees, so he did his thing next to a wire fence.

Yep, you quessed it!

Lit up his life....

ROFLMAO Living on a farm, I've heard the guys talking about having done this--hmm, it only happens once!! I've gotten hit by electric fences many a time, worst was at my dad's, in the rain. Water on the ground increases conductivity and he's got a ppppppowerful charge--thought my heart was gonna blow out of my chest!!! And my ex and I were putting up electric fence up at my barn--he made me go around and test it at intervals--with my hand. SOB. No, I wasn't stupid, just didn't know about the testers (now have two!!)
