I have a 40 gallon long tank with 1 large angelfish and two large silver dollars. Is it possible to add a few more angelfish that are smaller in size. Thanks

your tank is honestly to small for silver dollars, for they like to be kept in schools, and that would severly OS your tank because they get to be around 6 inches long. IMO you shoudl take them back before you get any other fish. that will leave plenty of room for new fish. since your angels is already very big, it is not advisable to add a very small one to your tank. it will likely get harassed by the big angel and die. if you can find angel that are the same size, you could possibly have a pair or trio, but watch out for aggression.

if you cannot find angels that are the same size as your current one, a school of 12 red eye tetras and a school of 5 corydoras and the current angel as the centerpeice will make a great scene.

I agree with jm1212 about the silver dollars. they can get pretty big.
you can add smaller angels with a large angel but you will need to watch for agression. I would also recommend you get the med to large angels(they most likely won't be bigger than you angel.

again watch for agression.

I have 3 large Angles in a 55g tank. I have 3 1/2'-silver dollar size angles and i just added 4 dime size black veal angles. The large angles 3- 31/2" protect the small black veil angles. But they go after the silver dollar size ones. The one mated pair let the dime size black veils come right up to and around the slate they are cleaning and dont bother them. So go figure.

I have recently added a medium-large sized angel into my tank that housed a small quarter sized angel. Although there is some aggression at times the larger angel generally just ignores him and sometimes I even see them swimming around together. They remind me of two brothers who bicker but at the end of the day they really do love eachother.

This could also be very different and largely depends on the temperment of your fish, which could be the complete opposite of mine.
