I'm setting up a 45 gallon planted freshwater tank, and am going to use the homemade co2 yeast/sugar/water trick.

Any suggestions for a diffuser that works well with a homemade co2 device?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, let the impeller of the filter chop up the CO2 bubbles. If it were a pressurized system, I'd recommend an external diffusor, but with a home made CO2 system, the pressure just isn't constant enough.

So just place the CO2 outlet tubing next to and below the filter intake? I have a filstar canister, in case that matters.

Thanks again.

A small plastic (clear)bottle (as a bell diffuser) works well costs nothing and saves your filter. Attatch to the wall with suction cup (thermometer holder) run from the bottom co2 line into it. Make sure its a narrow neck bottle to prevent fishies from getting inside. Make a tiny hole at the top so co2 can eventually escape. :) done.
