i the birchir in my book reads 14''keep single 87.5 gal tank night time predator water temp. 79-85*F will eat small fish
see if this is the fish Polypterus delhezi

what size tank also if you get one of those blue marine lights it might think it is night time and come out for viewing i want to get a blue bulb my self but they are $16-20 for the 18"

I am setting up a 150g (a 55 4 now,) The marine lights I've also been interested in but have been told they run like $40 each for the fixtures. I've added you to my buddy list so I can keep in touch with the ancient fish topic . anathor good site for these type of fish is

can you just put the blue bulb into your existing hood i have 2 18" lights in my 55 so i could put one blue one plant or daylight bulb
 
Yeah, I bought myself a 'dinosaur eel' and it was senegalus polypterus the Senegal Bichir. I call her Reptar.

I feed her cichlid bites, beef heart, fresh catfish, and steamed cocktail shrimp. She's about 6 inches now and I have her in a 36-gallon (see sig) until I can afford a larger aquarium.

I think she's one of the most interesting fish I've ever owned. I love her!! Hope you enjoy your bichir as much as I do mine!!!!
