Dirty Tank

Hi,

This is my first post here. I just got my first tank. It's a 55 gallon and I bought it from a friend who didn't want it anymore. He didn't have time to care for it so it sat for months with no fish. It's empty now, but there is a thick green film on the glass. I've tried using a scraper and a razor blade to get it off, but it's slow going. At the current rate it will take forever and a day. I want to get everything cleaned up before I start cycling, adding fish, etc.

Does anyone know of an easy way to get the glass clean? Any product I can buy that will loosen it up so it's easier to scrape off? What should I typically use to get the glass clean?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what I'm doing, so expect many questions in the future. :o

Thanks

I use a strong vinegar-water solution. I just use plain white vinegar mixed in equal parts with water. Make sure you rinse well, and good luck.
