DIRTY WATER FROM DRIFTWOOD

Lupin, I'm surprised you didnt share the link! ;)

bankai, try taking a look at the article linked in my sig. it has some suggestions for proper driftwood preparation. If that is truly a piece of malaysian driftwood, it still has potential to be an excellent addition to your tank, you just need to take some extra steps to get it ready, that's all. :)

Maybe you could take it out and do a 50% water change. Then try using boiling water as it will greatly speed up the leaching. I used a large garbage pail and put the wood on the bottom with a bottle of apple juice on top of it to keep it from floating up. I boiled 2 large pots of water and dumped them into the pail and when the water started getting warm, I replaced it. Did this for a few days, definitely leaches the tannins out faster and helps the wood become water bogged faster. My piece of driftwood has a piece of slate attached to the bottom and at the time it wasn't enough to keep it down, hence the apple juice bottle. MY water didn't get brown at all, so give it a shot.
