I have disappearing RCS. I actually bought 30 of them. They were in perfect condition when they showed up. I kept them in a quarantine tank for 2 days where they were crowded but happy. On the third morning I moved them to my main tank. They quickly went and hid in the thick grass I have on one side of my tank and looked happy all day. The next day only four were left, all of which are still doing fine two weeks later. There was no evidence of what happened. There are no shells no carcasses nothing. I don’t think they were eaten by the adult guppies or the amano shrimp because the grass is also home to numerous guppy fry, which are somewhat smaller and are doing just fine. Does anybody have any suggestions or thoughts?

i think they are just hiding. shrimps can be elusive.
try not feeding them for 2-3 days then drop a nice amount of food where u can see it and then count them

Crystals need very specific water parameters in which to do well. Can you provide your water parameters, tank mates and size of the tank.

I do not know the tank parameters however; it is a 30 gallon tank with lots of plants. I have about 30 guppies 8 amano shrimp and one pleco. As well as the 4 remaining RCS which are doing fine now. The algae is well in check so I don't think the nitrates are off the chart. The tank is unheated but maintains about 72 during the day and 70 at night. I do about a 1/6th water swap a week(one 5 gallon bucket) and repalce it with seasoned well water.

This has happened to me with both shrimp and fish. First place I would check it the HOB filter if you are using one. I was surprised to see the little critters hanging out (or dead) in the filter.
