I am in the market for good quality discus. Know any breeder that I can visit and purchase 2-3" discus from?

You might check both SimplyDiscus.com and DiscusAsAHobby.com, they have a sales section where breeders and hobbiests post fish for sale. I am familiar with hobbiests in Texas and a few breeders out of state but don't keep up with NY/NJ area. Post your question there and you'll fins someone who has what you want.

It is a great idea to buy locally, so you can see the fish you are getting.

It is funny you should suggest this. I tried and I got :dance 0 requests :sad

I know that the quality of discus in NJ LFS is appalling but there has to be some sources. Are they just ashamed of the quality of their fish? Or they are committed to LFS deals and don't care about quality/hobby?

It is sad.

I am in contact with the owner of "discusmadness". He does not have saleable stock right now and I am itching to buy. Has anybody bought discus from him? Any feedback?

Finally bought my first 2 discus. They are from "DiscusMadness.com" in NJ. He is just sourcing them and not breeding himself.

What do you think?

compared to where?
I've seen plenty of good discus stores in and around central/northern NJ
I actually ran into Jack Wattley (http://www.wattleydiscus.com/) at my LFS in NJ.

Where is your LFS and where are some good stores in central NJ? I have been to "PetShanty" and "Animals and Things". Other than those I have not seen good LFS or discus anywhere! This guy at DiscusMadness has some good looking fish.

my fav place for discus is Adams Pet Safari in Chester, NJ. They usually have a tank full of 1" discus for about 15$, a tank of 2-3" discus for 25-30$ and another tank with 4-6" discus up around 50-150$ (thats where I met Jack Wattley) they sell pretty quick though so might want to call and see what their stock is like before making a trip!

Also I forget the name of the place up in Bergen County, the HUGE AWESOME fish store.
They are super expensive though...
