Fry and babies are one and the same. Can you clarify the question if that's not what you were looking for as an answer?

You won't want to separate them for a while, as Discus parents secrete a special slime which is a great food for the fry.

yeah, i knew that, but hwne the time comes, how do you know, and how do you separate them?

I'm just replying at this point so you don't think that I'm rude--I don't rightly know the answer to that. Hopefully some other Discus maniacs on the board will help you out.

After about two weeks you can remove the fry from the parents. Sooner if you can get the fry to eat other foods such as newly hatched brine shrimp. You can siphon them out into another tank, usually with the same water as parents' tank, using a bit of airline tubing. I recommend a bare bottom fry tank - the fry need to be able to see the food and you'll need to be able to clean up anything left over. HTH

Also for discus fry a small tank at first is best. Use a mature sponge filter as the only filtration. Siphon uneaten food, feed at least 3 times per day, change 50% of the water daily.
