Hi everyone. I was thinking of redoing my aquarium and wanted to try discus for a while. This is what i want to put in there:

4 Leopard Discus
7 Julli Cories
10 Rummynose Tetras
2 Bushynose Plecos
Amano Shrimps, Snails, and Crabs as cleanup crew

I think that will be alright. Do you have any suggestians or problems.

it can be done(don't add the amano shrimp unless you want to feed the Discus)
be aware that if you get young(juvenile) Discus that the water should be changed daily as the young Discus need to be fed at least 4 X per day. waste needs to be removed daily so this means water changes.
the juveniles will benefit by the clean water. thus they do best in a bare bottom tank. they can be raised in a planted tank but the usual recommendation is bare bottom(the easiest to keep clean)

4 is the minimum number Discus should be kept at (unless you have a breeding pair)
in reality the recommendation is usually to stock 5-6 but you can get by with 4.

almost all crabs sold in LFS's are brackish, and even if you found one that was freshwater, they need a bit of land to hang out on or they will eventually drown. they also may nip at the fins of your cories, plecos, and the snails.
