I have 3 (I kno its a bad number to have!) they were essentially give away fish from a person who didn't want to take care of them anymore. I believe 1 to be male and 2 to be female. The male and one of the female always tend to stay together on 'their' side of the tank. During the last feeding of brine shrimp the male seem to chase the odd man out female away from the food and it seemed like he was allowing the female he chills with to get the food.

Is this pairing behavior?

Possibly, I hope you dont feed brine shrimp as a staple, it's ok for a treat, but nutritionally it's about useless.

Nah, omega one small sinking pellets and omega one flakes =) but those are usually all over the tank so I don't think they mind each other as much.

I hope they are pairing!!

It could definitely be pairing for a soon to come spawn. Things will go back to normal behavior after spawning is over.

Since then they still hang together but not to the extent of before. This pair I have since learned have layed eggs once but ate them or something. I took these fish because a friend wanted to downsize and had given up on any of his fish spawning.
Right now I'm keeping them because I think they are cool fish. And if they do at some point spawn then I won't complain =)
