Discus Tank Plans....need advice

I actually read it in TFH in Jack Watley's section....personally i think its a reliable source and he did say the more you could keep together the better but one is better than two, but three is better that one.... and well if we are looking at natural habits....i dont think you would ever find a blue diamond discus that would survive for very long in the wild, or a piegon blood, or some of the other wild colors that domestic discus display.

3 is a good number as with 2 you will see the dominant one stress the other. I only got 2 to start and the "king" costantly harassed the other guy especially when feeding. It was noticably stressing him. So I got another and within a week everything evened itself out. he lets the other be himself and the "king" actually chums with the red pigeon. I am starting to think they may be pairing up ;) Anyways ODD numbers work for me so go for it!! i am also picking up 2 more this week to finish off my tank. As for the 30 G tank I would be careful with the space you have 3 juvies would be OK,but plan on a bigger tank soon after. Goodluck :)

Well I am whole-heartedly planning on a 55 by the end of the summer...Right now I can get 3 Juv. Hans Discus for 35$ a piece...and its my last week working at the LFS so thats way i'm so intent on getting them now. 55g Tanks are much easier to get a good deal on than a cheap/good quality discus.
