Discus Turning into PARANA???

My are Discus Turning into PARANA! :hypnotized: I bought 20 Adult Cardinals home last week and THEY ATE THEM!!!!:thud: Picked them to death. I noticed one of my corie's was dead and floating with some nips a few days back. I figured maybe he died and then got Picked on? WELL today as I was looking at the tank I saw a few fish picking on something in the corner. WELL they took out another Corie and he was still alive, They ate him alive!!!! I feed these guys like 6 to 8 times a day so there is no way they are Not getting enoughf food! They are greedy killers!!!! CANABALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rant2: This has only just started to happen? SHould I try to rescue the other inhabitants of this tank? ARe they gona kill everything?:flamed:

Is this normal - Have I got sycko fish? I dont think I like this.

I have med to Large fish. 4" to 7"fish
 
typically any fish will eat another fosh if it is big enough, and hungry enough.

What are you feeding the discus? Are they wild caught discus, or did you get them from a breeder?
 
They all came from breeders and I found the corie - they ate off hit tail? I am sure hi will die but he is Of other than no tail. I feed them Flakes, Bits, BloodWorms, Beefheart, Delight, and Brine. Really - How much do I need to feed these guys? I have had them for 6 months and this is only now just starting?
 
How many discus do you have?
Are you sure they are all getting enough food?

Discus are slow eaters, and it is easy for them to not get enough food if there are other fish in the tank..
 
I have a 180 - I have about 18 fish - nothing besides clean up guys ans some RN tetras which only pick up scraps. ITS not a lack of food.
 
They are not piranhas, and yes it is nature for big fish to eat little fish. BUT.....I explained this in another thread quite a while ago......it's the fright and flight of the newly introduced fish that makes them seem like live food. I watched it happen in my own tanks....especially with cardinals and neons. When the little tetras lay eyes on those discus it scares the beejeezus out of em, and rightly so! So they emit fright and flight signals to the rest of the tank and they are seen as food, not tankmates. I took molly babies and threw them in the discus tank so the discus WOULD eat them, and the tiny molly babies weren't the least bit afraid of the discus. Several weeks later I had to chase those mollies to heck and back to catch them and get them out of there!

Since the cardinals and neons are famous for this, it makes them difficult to add to the discus tank.

Is the tank heavily planted or not?
