Ive been trying to get my discus off of bloodworms for about three months now.This stuff is like crack to these fish,its the only thing they will eat.Im having bad problems because of their poor diet.Ive tried tetra granules,flake,brine shrimp,beef heart you name it,Whats up with these fish man?Aceboy at the pet store tells me that they are good for them ,I think hes telling me lies.what should I do?Ive tried everything.

stop feeding them. don't feed them at all for three days, and then start trying new foods. only add a tiny tiny pinch to the tank so if they don't eat it doesn't foul the water. try soaking pellet foods in the juice from thawed bloodworms to attract the fish, ot use garlic extract which is an appetite stimulant. don't feed adult brine shrimp - they have very little nutrition. otherwise you may want to find a vitamin supplement made especially for fish to improve their health.

My discus are pigs and will eat anything and everything i put into the tank. You can try frozen mysis, Hikari red discus, NLS Discus food, FD earthworms among other things. Mine even eat the NutraFin flake I use.

Relax!! Bloodwroms are fine! I only feed bloodworms in my Community discus tank and they are thriving. I only add other foods to my breeding tanks.

Frozen bloodworms are the staple for my discus. I feed early in the morning before I leave for work. I'm out of the house about 12 hours so they are very hungry when I get home. That is when they get a flake and pellet mixture. Then later they get either two more bloodworm feedings or 1 dried tubifex and 1 bloodworm feeding before lights out. I actually have one discus who won't eat the worms, prefers flake....now that's weird for a discus!

mine love the tetra colorbits.
try adding flake or colorbits to thawed bloodworms. let them soak.

I had to use this technique to get mine to eat a new brand of discus flake food.
if it still does not work..don't feed them for a day or two then try the mix or just a pinch of food.

I do find my discus prefer to forage so slow sinking foods are good to try.
I like tetra colorbits as the color is easy to see.
