Discus

I received the e-mail to activate my account. WHen I went to the site to activate it, it said my account was activated but I have to wait for another e-mail for privileges. That is the one I have not gotten.

I am going to college in the fall and they only allow you to have tanks up to 20 gallons. Should I only get two discus and keep them in the tank, or would that be bad? Do you have any suggestions?

I would probably look for a home for the discus you have now.

years ago when I was new I put two discus in a 30 and grew them up to 6 inches, but then they started to fight and I had to put a divider in the tank.

next thing I know I had eggs on both sides of the divider.

I had two girls lol

If you have less than 4 you will likely have aggression problems.

but the problem is, you don't really have the room for 4 of them in that tank long term.

So, thats why I would suggest looking at some different species for your tank.

Discus are shoaling fish and do best in groups of 5 or more. I agree with 12 Volt Man, find a good home for your discus and take some other fish with you to college.

i have 1 small discus in my 38 gallon tank right now.(I'll be getting atleast a 55 in December)

He hid a lot for the first couple days. But now he comes up to the top of the tank and will practically eat out of my hand. And he follows me all around my room. I guess i got really lucky. Only thing that scares him are water changes, but then again i've only had him for a couple weeks, and he should get used to my weekly changes.

Keep a very close eye on your parameters. A weekly water change may not be enough.
What other fish are in the tank.? What is the temperature ?
