I just saw this thread and it truly made me sad. I feel sorry for you OP and all the other people that believe this nonsense. You fell right into their trap. All this global warming green planet stuff is a government made problem.
You all realize that this was started by Al Gore. I'm not sure if you know but he is not a scientist...
His inconvienent truth speech was a god awful mess if you actually look at what he is showing you. He goes back about a thousand years but what about all the years before that? Well obviously if he showed that it would disprove his entire speech because its a freckin cycle.

Just to clear the air, Al Gore was definitely not the first person to suggest global warming or climate change. G.S. Callendar, John Tyndall, Arrhenius, etc. a lot of notable scientists have expanded on this idea in the past. Gore did bring a lot of publicity though...
And I do think it is unfortunate that politics was brought into the mix, as that tends to skew facts on both sides of any issue.
The main opposition I see is people don't want to change lifestyles. At least, that is the vibe I am getting...

local weather vs. global climate...
For example, April of this year was below average in terms of temperature for the U.S but one of the warmest on record for the world.

From my experiences an individuals belief or disbelief on global warming stem from their own personal perceptions of what the weather should be at a specific time, examples:
"I think it is cold, global warming is a myth"
"it is snowing earlier than i think it should be, global warming is a myth"
or
"its so hot out, global warming must be true"
"it is 90 in april, global warming is to blame!"

Many scientists thought it was a possibility until they checked older records and found that the earth cycles through temperatures. War cold, warm cold.

Also do you know that about the volcano that released more carbon emissions than humanity has in all of our existence? It has nothing to do with how we live other than the government would like to charge us more money for new things that we don't need.
I'm all for recycling and saving the planet because I'm studying to because a Zoologist and one day I'm going to Antarctica and guess what...the glaciers will still be there.
And I'm still talking about the earth as a whole even though it i cold here too.

This year has been one of the coldest years over all. April might of been warm but the rest hasn't.
