I am very scared by some of the opinions and comments in this thread.
I think the whole question isn't about global warming, it's more a question of how can we keep it from getting too hot... for us. Oh, and our crops, we need to eat.
At this point, I fairly sure that, as a species, humans have pretty much doomed themselves. I just hope the crash doesn't come while my child and any grandchildren are alive.
Now, we can ***** about this all we want... however, it isn't going to change the minds of anyone that is in power. This is an example of reality being ignored in favor of popular opinion (much like what happens when people don't understand science).
This argument reminds way too much of the evolution 'controversy'. It's a contrived problem by people who don't like evolution, who don't understand evolution, and who don't understand science. Feel free to argue all you want. Just remember that unless you decide to become a very well respected climatologist or a major political figure, there's not a blessed thing you can do about any of it. Just try, like some other people to reduce your carbon footprint and your non-renewable energy use mainly because it's practical. Then hope for the best.
BTW: Even a hypothesis is not an opinion. If you think that it is, you must not have listened in science... or your teacher was rubbish.
The difference between a hypothesis and an opinion is testability. If you can't test it, then it's opinion. If you can test it, then it's a hypothesis. If you can test it and don't, then don't bug us about it.
