Does anyone know a way to look up online your county/districts water quality reports? I just tested my tap water to see if I can start using that in my tank rather than filtered like I have been using (tap is much cheaper) but my tap waters ph was 8.0-8.2!! This leaves me with some concerns as to what other levels may be off.

Call your water company. Their number should be on your bill. They will send you a complete report on your water chemistry.

what other levels may be off.
a pH of 8.0-8.2 has no bearing on any other aspects of your water chemistry, and certainly is not indicative that anything is "off".

in fact, your fish will be perfectly fine at a ph of 8.2 and very likely there's nothing at all "off" about your tap water.

You can definately call them - the number is required by law to be on the bill. They are also required to release any information regarding water consumed by humans.

Some larger cities post their information online in PDF format and you try to search your cities .gov site. It may or may not be there. My small cities water quality is online, but it very old (2003 and 2000). Just call, it will be most recent.

Also, my water has a ph of 8.4 out of tap - my water is fine otherwise. Except is so friggin hard (26dGH). :rant2: Just because PH is high does not mean anything else is bad.
