I have a pair of filament licorice gourami's but they are too shy and hide most the time. I am looking for ideas on possible dithers that would work. Rarer the fish the better. My pH is lower than 7 and it will probably range between 5 and 6.5 since i will be experimenting with breeding across pH ranges until they breed. The fish must be a nano type since the gourami's are about 1.5 inches give or take and they are in a 6.5 gallon.

Thanks.

I'd go with a large school of Chili Rasboras.

Zebra danios have worked well with aggressive fish for me in the past, but since you said rarer the better, chilli rasboras and celestial pearl danios (not too rare, but still fancy)

Since you want rare and small, Danionella dracula and translucida or Fluviphyllax pygmaeus come to mind.

Oh right, I forgot the aggressive temperaments of gouramis. How about rainbow forktails? They're small and feisty.
