Hiding out.

I hope to have the heater, spray bar and intakes hidden by plants, soon. I was so excited to see that big Anubias bloom. The mopani arch was a gift from saje, and the other wood, manzanita, was a gift from Jackiomy. All the plants and livestock are from Msjinkzd. (I had MTS and Ramshorns and pondsnails already)

You can see how much room they have in the back to swim and stay hidden. I think once that area is filled in they will HAVE to swim in the open, lol.

nice!

Will look great once filled in. Get some hairgrass for the forground.

I do want a nice carpet all the way across the front of the tank. I have some Saggitaria sublatta in spots as you can see. I was thinking the Sags would eventually make a good carpet, but they aren't spreading as fast as I hoped. Do you think hairgrass will fill in faster?

If I do get some hairgrass, what do you think - should I plant hairgrass in the foreground and leave the Sags where they are, or move them more to the back? They seem to want to get taller and not spread out.

Hey Mel! :)

I always had my sags grow a bit taller than I wanted, even when I bought what was labeled as "dwarf sags"...I would probably move them a bit further back myself unless you want to be trimming them to get a shorter look.

Never had hairgrass so I cannot comment on the growth rates.

Hey Pappy! Thanks for the input. I think I'll move them back and let them grow. If I can find hairgrass I'll get me some of that. :)

I don't know if hairgrass would grow faster, but I do know that DBT(dwarf baby tears) would grow and spread pretty fast. U might have to trim them more as they have a tendency to grow tall and spread less in a shallow tank, and grow short, and spread a lot in a deep tank.

I think hairgrass would spread faster, but to get the initial planting, you would need at least a total of 6"X6" to spread out.

*planting will take a long time, but it will be worth it

Thanks FishBoss, I think hairgrass sounds cool.

^Yeah, I didn't know the growth rate cuz I am doing a major replant in my 72G planted. I put in some hairgrass 2 days ago, so i can't really say how much it is growing.
