Dividing Sand (i think)[please read]

Okay,

I'm wanting to divide my plants off where they don't root under the sand and make my tank messy. I'm wanting to do it myself without purchasing anything specific, so if you guys could give me some ideas on how to do it, that would be great.

I want it to not be noticable if at all possible

My first thought was small ceramic plant pots that you can fit underneath the substrate. If you have 3 or 4 inches of sand, that should be no problem.

I can't remember which member had this, but in their goldfish tank, they had glass pots filled with sand(or ecocomplete) and had the plant in those pots.

my question is why are you trying to do this? what do you mean by makeing your tank messy?

because I don't want my plants scattering throughout the tank.
