So I sketched a plan for a 10G sump/fuge for my 24G AP. I used google's SketchUp application, I saved the file to my documents. I want to post the picture here b/c I have a question about it. How can I upload it to the site?

I really need some help with this.

Tankz,
Yuri.

Look on the toolbar just above the message window. Click on the paperclip, then just browse to your picture. Unless I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do.

When you click on post reply, look down below and you will see a button that says "Manage Attachments"..Click on this and you will get a new box appear...Click browse, and locate the file you want to upload...Click on upload, and when its finished, it will flash back with the text box to the left of the browse button empty...then close the window...add you topic/thread reply, and post..

Any more issues, please send me a PM...

Thanks, and have a good day...

Niko

The SketchUp file is a SKP file? I tried both method, well, they are the same thing. But it can't be uploaded. Now, I've seen people use sketches from Goggle's SketchUp application, I know it can be done.

Anyhow, I went and used Window's Paint App.

I've decided that my tank could benefit from having a sump/fuge due to its small size. Since I'm new at this; it would help me keep water parameters in check and in general, stablelize water quality better. Besides I might like the look of it.

So, I bought the tank: $10
I plan on doing the baffles/partitions with acrylic glass.

This is where I need help. How would I go about connecting the sump to the tank. I have no drilling tools, nor do I have the skills (I think). Is there a way to do this without drilling any of the tanks?
I mean to put the tanks besides one another.

Tanks,
Yuri.

When you are in google sketchup...Click on FILE, then EXPORT...then select 2D model..This will then export a .JPG image exactly as it it shown in the porgram...

Example below from my old reef..

Thanx Niko,
You're right it does work that way.

You seem like you've got good experience with sump setups.
So how would I go about connecting the 10 G sump to the tank?

Remember the sump does not fit in the stand like yours (neither horizontally nor vertically). My only options are: place it on the left side of the tank, or on the right side.

Thanks,
Yuri.

run your returns and overflow box of the left side of the tank and you could make the return a spray bar so that the water is distributed back to the tank better. Or a little extra plumbing with some elbows and a stronger return pump. Are you using the siphon over flow design ?

i quite agree with "13" there, you still have various choices with regards to plumbing. Over the side is the most viable option, just remember to calculate your head when planning the return piping and buy a return pump respectivly...

If you do not want to drill the tank, then your options are either a DIY "U" tube syphon or an overflow box..both work in bascially the same principle...Personally, i would go with a "U" tube syphon, due to the size of the display tank...

Hope that helps a little

Niko

Hi there,
Just checking in to see how it is going. I'm hoping to do the same to my 10g and would like to benefit from your experience.
