Hello!

I am looking to build a cave/terrace combination for my tank. I have done some searches online and found some decent DIY terrace/caves from PVC pipe, slate, etc. I was just wondering if anybody here has any experience doing it, which materials were best, and if there are any recommendations for building a cave and terrace?

Any helpful advice, links, etc, would be appreciated.
Thanks :)

styrofoam and cement, its easy, but it will take 3-5 days to do.
its also very inexpensive. no more than 15$ to do a <55g tank
I did a terrace, background and large rock in my tank.
A cave wouldn't be to difficult...
I can't wait to build another tank just to see how it comes out now that I have some experience doing this!

no offense, but when I picture a PVC/Slate cave it just doesn't sound like it would look good at all....

Fresh04...please send pics when done, i'm also looking to ge some caves for my tank and do not like what is sold in stores since its mostly plastic.

i added 2 small flower pots, at first it was to big although they were small, so i cut them in half with one of those drills that cut off nuts and bolts, now they are perfect, and the orange coller looks good with my orang and white rocks..but i'm still looking for me creative caves, so if and when you find some let me know..

geoffgarcia,

Do you have any links or pictures so I can get a better idea of how to build this based on that idea? It sounds cool, and yeah, the reason I posted here is because of the lack of realistic, good looking ideas out there!

Wildiana,
I may not get it done this weekend, but once I finish whatever I do for this cave/terrace, I'll post pics...

Thanks!

mine came out really poopy when I did it, but its still a zillion cabillion villion times better than any other background I've ever seen in real life.

Personally i think the ones in these pictures look a little to much like stone walls, which I dont think is to natural...

Although you think it came out "poopy" i would like to see it, any attempt to do a DIY background diserves a hand.

plus it will help me on what to expect

pls post your pics

thanks
